A group of 6th class children went to Galway on Saturday 3rd February to compete in FLL (First Lego League). FLL is a global science and technology competition. The students worked together to explore the topic of ‘Hydrodynamics’ and to design, build and programme an autonomous LEGO robot to solve a series of missions.
During their research they visited Ballymun ReDiscovery Centre where they spent a day learning about water. They also had a visit from two Engineering PHD students who spoke to them about sustainable living and the pupils also got fantastic support from Professor Anna Davies.
The children were tasked with finding a solution to a problem with the human water cycle. They came up with a rainwater car wash system and won a trophy for most ‘Innovative Solution’. A fantastic achievement!
