As part of their Transition Year programme a group of 14 students have formed a fundraising committee with the assistance of a number of teachers. They hope to raise funds to support the construction and improvement of health care facilities in Africa through the Schools & Health Foundation.
The pupils hope to hold a number of fundraising events throughout the year following their very successful recent cake sale on 19th October.
The committee was formed in response to a presentation by the director of the School and Health Foundation John Mitchell. At this presentation the pupils also heard from two third level students who previously travelled to Africa with the foundation after successfully raising sufficient funds to build and run a school in Sierra Leone.
A big congratulations to all the pupils involved who organised and gave their time freely.
