6th class were extremely lucky to have recently taken part in a course of philosophy lessons run by the UCD School of Philosophy. They were split into four groups and during the sessions each group conducted a philosophical inquiry based around a stimulus. The students were challenged to come up with their own questions and to share their thoughts and ideas on the question. This led to some very interesting discussions and debates.
6th class had enjoyed the course so much that they decided to take part in the inaugural Irish Young Philosopher Awards held in UCD on 18th May 2018. Their projects dealt with the concept of perception and whether the truth was always worth knowing. They had a fantastic day out and not only got to meet the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, but 6A also won the prize for best class project! Well done to all the pupils for their success and enthusiasm and a big thank you to Mrs Bowen and Mr Swaine for supporting them with this project.
