A big congratulations goes to LFI/Eurocampus students Roan Batard, Ethan McQuaid and Marilou Gerbelot-Barillon (8th class) who presented their project at the recent BT Young Scientist Exhibition and came 2nd in the Junior category in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Well done to the students and their teacher Mme Tirel.
“Every Friday at around 2:30pm, our seismometer records a peculiar seismic signal also recorded on other seismometers in Dublin. With the help of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS), Roan Batard, Ethan McQuaid and Marilou Gerbelot-Barillon from second year studied the recordings. They were able to calculate a distance from where the signal is coming from. After analysing the map, they finally concluded that this signal originates from a quarry blast in Belgard near Tallaght.“
