All our debating teams have done very well over the last couple of weeks:
The 11th class Concern debating team won the last of the league debates. On 22nd January they successfully opposed the motion that “The population time-bomb is being defused” which was proposed by Marian College. Captained by Gregor and supported by Daniela, Nora and Gabriel the team put in an excellent performance. We wish them well in the final count for the Knockout stages of the competition.
Congratulations also to our Junior Debaters: Sophie, Isabelle and Emily of 9th class are now through to the Octo finals of the Junior competition. We wish them well in their next debate. 182 teams entered the competition and they are now down to the final 32 teams and individuals. This is a marvellous achievement for our young debaters who have been very generous with their time in encouraging debating among the 7th and 8th classes.
Among our Seniors, 11th class debaters Sean, Gregory and Luca are now through to the quarter finals of the Senior UCD/Trinity Debating competition. On 28th January they successfully debated the motion that the EU should form a joint Standing Army. Aisling will continue to support the team in their preparations for the next debate.
Well done to all of our debaters!

Update 14th February 2019:
The Concern debating team, captained by Daniela and supported by Luka, Gregory and Gabriel, defeated the motion proposed by St. Josephs of Cluny, that foreign Aid should be stopped to the developing world. Thank you to Luka and Gregory, especially, who stepped in at the last minute to support the team. Thank you to Nora for providing her teammates with research, despite her illness. Thank you to Leah of 12th class, captain of last year’s winning team, who supported the team on the night! It was an example of the St. Kilian’s and 11th class school spirit. Well done to all concerned! The team is now in the last 16 of the competition.
