This October Germany is celebrating 30 years of German Reunification. To mark this important event, Frau Niederprüm is running two projects which are open to all our Secondary Schools students. Get involved and take part!
Competition
1. Personal stories
Form: Podcasts, Interviews (written or film)
Content: What does the German reunification mean to you, your family and friends?
- Interview your family / friends / neighbours
- How did they experience the reunification and the years afterwards?
2. Research
Form: Word document (at least 3 pages, Calibri 12, include sources)
Content: Pick one of the following topics:
- Living together in a reunified Germany – is it working or are there any problems?
- “Besser-Wessis” vs. “Jammer-Ossis”: Is this stereotype true?
- What links East and West Germany, what divides it?
- International comparison: are there similar situations around the world?
3. Creative
Form: poems/ essays/ photos/ photo story/ art
Content: Pick one of the following topics:
- How would the world look like right now if the wall had never fallen?
- What does freedom mean?

Reunification Quiz: “Think’n Treat!”
Under the motto “Think’n Treat” we will publish a riddle or question for our students each day for 30 days, relating to the past 30 years. Email your answer to Frau Niederprüm and you can win a small prize every day – starting on Monday 5th October!
