This morning we welcomed Dr Nicholas O’Brien, Irish Ambassador to Germany, and Sergeant Graham Lee from the Defence Forces to St. Kilian’s. They spoke to us about the Global Schools Programme which is part of the Global Ireland initiative, the work of the Embassy, the United Nations and the Irish Peacekeeping mission.
Well done to our 10th Class pupils who were very engaged and asked many excellent questions and proved that we are a truly European and international school! The students were presented with a United Nations flag and a copy of the UN Charter from Dr. O’Brien.
We would like to thank Dr. O’Brien and Sergeant Lee for having taken time out of their busy schedules to be with us today. Thank you also to Daniel Partridge for his beautiful musical interlude on the piano. And a final thank you to Mr O’Driscoll, Mr Lacey, Mr O’Scanaill and Mr Treston for their help with organising this wonderful event.
