Following weeks of training under the watchful eye of their PE teachers, 11th class took to the pavements of Clonskeagh and Goatstown for their 5k Fun Run just before the Christmas break.
While the students might not have seen it as a ‘fun run’, they all finished in under 40 minutes. This is a testament to the work and effort – and occasional moan – they put in during class over the past 6 weeks. The students decided to do the run for the charity Healing Untold Grief Groups (HUGG) and raised €320 in funds.
The first to cross the line were:
Lucas Spicer – 20:18
Michael Brennan – 23:19
David Towson – 23:30
Amelia Hauer was the first girl to cross the line with a time of 24:45
Not to forget the teachers who took part; Ms Shelley, Mr Linehan, Ms Collins, Mr McMillan and Ms Cunnane with Ms Mc Carthy going out in front on her bike. First to cross the finish line was Ms Collins, with a time of 24:30, leaving Mr Linehan for dust in the final 200 metres.
Thank you to all the staff who came out to support at the finish line, as well as TY students Amy and Aifric who were our photographers on the day.
A special thanks must also go to Donnybrook Garda Station who sent Sergeant Healy and Garda Duffy up to us on the day to keep a watchful eye on the students as they completed their run in the busy Clonskeagh and Goatstown areas.
