Only few weeks ago, on October 7th 2021, everyone here in St. Kilian’s German School was thrilled at the news that we have been awarded our 5th Green Flag for Biodiversity by Green Schools Ireland. This morning, the Green School Committee, with members from 1st to 6th Class, attended the raising of our newest flag – the Biodiversity Flag. We could not be prouder seeing it now up on the flagpole at the main entrance.
Ms Thielemans, the Primary and Kindergarten schools and the Green School Committee children have been working hard on topics related to Biodiversity over the last two years. 4th class made terrariums, 1st class made bug hotels and 6tth Class pupils took part in an orienteering session and a biodiversity quiz. Besides that everyone made an effort to reduce the general waste and to enhance recycling just to name few activities among others. A lot of work also took place during the national Biodiversity week back in May 2021, where the children explored Biodiversity in different areas and disciplines such in EVS, Sachkunde, German, Kunst and Sports. The wonderful results were then presented in an exhibition in the Assembly. Congratulations to Frau Thielemans, to the new committee and to last year’s Green School Committee who worked so hard on this. Keep up the great work!
