The boys secondary school season got back on track this year, with the four teams entered in the Under 14, Minor, Junior and Senior leagues and cups.
To date, the minor team have played the most games as the opposing schools have been the most responsive in communicating to organise the games. They played the first round of the cup against St. Patrick’s and won by an impressive score line. They have played two group games so far, drawing 2-2 with an impressive St. Kevin’s team, after trailing by two goals.
They continued their good run with a trip to Rockbrook Park in Rathfarnham. On a cold afternoon, they fell two goals behind as they came to terms with the pitch and conditions but were 3-2 up by halftime. They continued the good work into the second half and added two further goals to win the game 5-3.
The under 14 team, made up of the 1st years, have played one game to date, hosting St. Tiernan’s in a friendly game. They were impressive in their 3-0 win and will shortly play St. Joseph’s of Fairview at home in the cup.
The under 17 team played their opening league group game recently, with Nord Anglia travelling the short distance from their Sandyford base for the encounter. Our boys were impressive in racking up five goals to win the game comprehensively by 5-1. They will shortly face St. Aidan’s in UCD in their first cup game.
The under 19s were drawn away to Ballinteer CS in the first round of the Senior cup and the game was delicately balanced at 0-0 as we entered the second half. Unfortunately, the breakthrough came for BCS and they continue in the cup, with our boys now free to concentrate on the league.
They played their first league group game against Killinarden last week but were beaten by 6-2 and now face St. John’s in their next game with the pressure on to get a result in order to progress to the knockout stages. We wish the boys the very best of luck for their upcoming matches!
