An exciting week of KiMu – Kinder Musizieren (Children make music) has come to an end and what an exciting week it has been celebrating our own great musicians in Primary School from classes 1 to 6. Due to Covid, the KiMU event was brought into the classrooms this year rather than being a competition taking place together with JuMu – Jugend musiziert as it normally is. KiMu and JuMu are one of the biggest and most popular events on our school calendar and usually conclude with a fantastic concert in the Assembly. All JuMu winners then get to travel abroad and to compete internationally in a second round.
Even though it was a smaller event, the children were equally excited to perform in front of their class mates. Every day we enjoyed outstanding singing and instrumental performances on the Piano, Violin, Guitar, Ukelele, Recorder, Keyboard, Cello and we had singers and dancers too. It was a great opportunity for aspiring musicians. All Primary School children who are learning a musical instrument with a teacher or are taking singing or dancing lessons outside school, were invited to participate with 2 contrasting pieces that are no longer than 3 minutes each.
Well done to all who participated and a big Thank You to Frau Thielemans who once again put a lot of effort into organizing the KiMu event this year despite the circumstances.
