We are massively proud of our 7th Class students who were highly commended in the 2021 FÍS Film Award for their entry ‘Channels’. They have been engaged in a filmmaking project last year and have participated in the 2021 FÍS Film competition as entire class. Students were working in small groups to write scripts, design storyboards and have undertaken lessons in filmmaking, including camera angles, continuity and conventions, set design, and technical aspects such as sound and lighting. All ideas have been put into small film trailers, directed and edited by themselves and brought together into a joint film entry. The final video is really fun to watch, but have a look for yourself. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to Ms. Doyle for organising and supporting the students during all stages of the process. Plans are underway for the 5th and 6th Classes to participate in the 2022 Fís Film Project. We are looking forward to it!
The FÍS is a successful film project in primary schools across Ireland. The FÍS project ‘empowers teachers and children to explore the medium of film and digital media in the primary curriculum, developing the areas of active learning, creative thinking, language, imagination, collaborative learning and problem solving skills as well as giving children hands-on experience of using creative technology as part of the film making process.’
