Congratulations to our athletes who represented St. Kilian’s German School Dublin in the East Leinster Cross Country Championship in the Phoenix Park on Wednesday the 26th of January 2022.
First up was our inter girls team, Lena Marie Muzellec 9D, Andrea Birch-Alonso 9B , Mara Montgomery 9C, Alannah McCoole 9D and Mckayla Davies 9C. For a team made up entirely of novices, they gave a super account of themselves. Effort levels were super high throughout but what stood out more so was the camaraderie towards one another. This team knows exactly what it means to be part of a team and had a fair bit of fun in the process. They finished 13th team out of 31 and what’s more exciting, is that they’ll be in the same inter race next year!
Next up was Matthew Gillart 7A in the Minor A race. This is the youngest age category and the inexperience of most is obvious but not Matthew. He ran a very clever race, starting towards the back and silently slicing his way through the field and then finishing with a sprint finish. He was greeted at the finish by the rest of the squad, which for a coach is great to see.
Well done to all involved! We are already looking forward to the next one.
