St. Kilian’s German School is proud to be one of 11 schools in Dublin to take part in the Climate-Smart Project, a pilot programme developed by Dr. Stephan Hügel and Professor Anna Davies, Department of Geography, School of Natural Sciences at Trinity College Dublin. Our TY Geography class students get to explore and to learn why we need to adapt to climate change at global and local level and how to plan and adapt for the future.
The students learn about a key hazard of climate change for Ireland – flooding – and how floods are measured, monitored, predicted, and visualized. In several workshops in interactive video and quiz-based material they also learn about a range of options and decisions culminating in an online iAdapt Simulation Game, which places students in charge of adaptation planning for Dublin in the year 2045. Thank you for such fantastic opportunity to Professor Anna Davies, Dr. Stephan Hügel and Lydia Johnson from Trinity College, Department of Geography, and to Mr Campbell for organising.
