This festive season, St. Kilian’s and LFI are partnering together with the Simon Community to donate essential goods and non-perishable foods to the people in need in Ireland.
The Dublin Simon Community works hard daily and makes meals for over 1,000 vulnerable people living in their emergency accommodation, along with providing emergency supplies for people living on the streets. In Winter months, life on the streets gets even more difficult; people are cold, hungry, tired and living conditions worsen. There are over 4,500 homeless adults in Dublin, with an adition of over 1,000 families living on the streets.
Their emergency ‘Food for Simon’ appeal is asking for people to donate foods with shelf lives of at least four weeks (tinned foods, packaged food, sauces, packed soups, chocolates and biscuits, condiments, and/or toiletries, i.e shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, detergents…)
Foods that are NOT accepted are: foods that are made to be consumed within a few days; bread, milk, eggs, fruit and veg, sandwiches and baked goods. No perishable goods.
St. Kilian’s and the LFI both hold food collections each year, and the response from parents, families and students has always been amazing.
We would greatly appreciate your help to the Simon Community. There will be TWO collection points this year: one in front of the Secretary’s office and one in front of the gym, as you come in from the courtyard.
Donations are more than welcome up until the 15th of December 2023.
We appreciate every single donation!
