Congratulations to our 11th Class German debating team who won a friendly debate against Wesley College today. Captained by Maria, ably supported by her teammates Christopher, Cormac and Anja and ably supported by substitutes Lena and Sarah, the team successfully and convincingly proposed the motion that Plastic should be banned against the opposition from Wesley. There were some excellent performances – both teams put in an impressive level of debate in German language and rebuttal of their opponents’ arguments. The decision on the winning team was a difficult one to be made by Herr Henneberg, the Cultural Attaché from the German Embassy, who adjudicated the debate. All debaters were commended for their outstanding performances especially those who were debating in German for the first time. Thank you to Ms Josch and Ms O’Donohoe from the German Department for organising the debate and to Herr Henneberg for his participation as judge.
