St. Kilian’s U12 girls squad finally got their campaign launched after 4 failed fixtures pre-Christmas due to inclement weather. The girls welcomed Scoil Mhuire all the way from Lucan for A & B league matches for our 4th, 5th, and 6th class teams.
Our 6th class team was unfortunately outgunned by an experienced Lucan side, going down 5-1 but registering the first goal of the campaign to Marlene Hartas – well done Marly! Debutant goalkeeper Méabh Finn coped very well for her first outing between the posts and although the score line suggested otherwise, it was quite a tight game.
Our 5th class team fared slightly better, falling narrowly to their Scoil Mhuire counterparts by a single goal. Considering this team had 4 girls from 4th class helping out we are very proud – well done to Sara McKillen, Mae Ammari, Ixchel Haro and Giulia Ward – you can help out any day!
Congrats to Lola Fernandez, also a brand new 5th class goalkeeper who provided resolve at the back for the B squad contributing effectively to another tight game.
Pizza rounded off the afternoon – just don’t expect it for every match!
