We started off the new school year with a book reading by Prof. Dr. Roland Kaehlbrandt: „Deutsch – Eine Liebeserklärung“ (German – A declaration of Love) that took place on Thursday, 12th of September 2024 in our Shamrock Hall. Prof. Dr. Roland Kaehlbrandt, who is linguist and bestselling author, published a book about the German language with the intention to rebut the many prejudices about German in an enjoyable way. Instead, he claims that German is a ‘Lego language’ in which words can be easily combined and learnt. German has an agile sentence structure full of valuable nuances. German is extremely friendly: many small particles make it possible. And finally, German is capable of sporting brevity and speed. The evening reading and discussion was followed by a workshop for 11th class students the next morning. Parents, staff and students alike enjoyed ‘exploring’ the German language with Prof. Dr. Roland Kaehlbrandt.
