It was a wonderful evening as we bid a fond farewell to the Class of 2024 in UCD’s Village Auditorium on Tuesday, 21st of May 2024. Family members and friends, the Principal and the Secondary School Principal Mrs Meier and Mr Macmillan, the Chair of the Board of Management Mr Schäckermann, the Year Head Mrs Martin, class teachers Mr Larkin and Mrs Waters and many staff members have joined the ceremony to celebrate our 52 graduates of Class of 2024 and to wish them the very best as they move on to a new chapter of their lives. We were treated to emotional speeches, fantastic musical performances from our very talented graduates, presentation of awards and subject prizes and sharing unforgettable memories. A thank you to our Vorschule children, their parents and teachers who presented the graduates with red roses upon arrival and performed their opening dance as part of our long-standing tradition here in St. Kilian’s. Also, a big Thank you to our guest of honor Dr. Abigail O’Brien, an award-winning contemporary Irish artist, the first female president of the Royal Hibernian Academy and a past student, on sharing inspiring examples from her journey on becoming an artist and pursuing her dreams, concluding with motivational words that life is not a straight line and that some things may take longer than others. We also want to thank our Head boy and Head girl 2023-24, Alexandru and Nadia, for all their work and contribution to the school and their lovely and emotional speeches to round up the evening. Congratulations to all this year’s graduates and best of luck for their final exams. As summarized by Mr Macmillan ‘… We do not know where we will be in 10 or 20 years’ time, but the important thing is to enjoy the experience, to take time to wander ….’ and always remember: ‘Alles hat eine Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei’ (Everything has an end, only a sausage has two).
