It was a great first day of school especially for our children who are going into first class in primary school. Over 50 1st class pupils arrived at St. Kilian’s this morning with their colourfully decorated Schultüten and were warmly greeted by their new class teachers Mrs Browne and Ms Purcell. The Schultüten – very popular in Germany and a long-standing tradition here at St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule – are decorated by the pupils themselves and filled with treats and small presents by their parents to make the first day of school brighter and sweeter.
After a short address by the Head of Primary School, Ms Black and the School Principal, Mrs Meier, and a first induction with their class teachers in their classrooms, the pupils finally opened their Schultüten before joining their parents and the Kindergarten children for a First Day of School Picnic. The picnic, kindly organised by our Parents’ Association, is a great opportunity to welcome children and their parents and to get to know each other in an informal atmosphere.
A warm welcome to all! Whishing all pupils the best for their time at St. Kilian’s.
