Secondary School Hockey
With the up coming mid-term giving us a short break to a busy start to the hockey season, we can reflect on how the past few months have unfolded on the hockey pitch. Most of our teams are doing well in their respective leagues so far, and we have increased the number of wins which is brilliant for the atmosphere and growth of hockey in St. Kilians.
Our senior girls have played two games so far this year, winning one and losing in a game they dominated against Skerries community college. The minor and 1st year girls have both had flying starts to the season having won all their games so far. With more girls joining the minor age group, we are hoping to have enough girls to field a second minor girls’ team.
Our minor boys have managed only one loss in a difficult league that they are competing in this year. They will continue to go toe to toe with the well-known hockey schools. So far, they are playing incredibly good hockey and it such an encouraging thing to see. The 1st year boys will start their league after midterm. They have had a few friendly matches winning all bar one of them. Junior boys have only lost one match in a tight contest against Wesley college after Wesley scored a penalty stroke after the whistle, with that being the only game they have conceded any goals this season after four games. This year we also have a second junior boys’ team that has played one league so far with more of their matches going to take place after midterm.
Primary school hockey
We have bright and exciting players yet again this year in the primary which makes for an exciting year ahead for our league teams. The league will only start after midterm, but the boys and girls have played several friendly matches helping us prepare for the upcoming season. The boys and girls have shown great growth as they played more matches and getting a few satisfactory results. We look forward to the start of the season.
Congratulations to all our boys and girls who got nominated for Leinster development programme.
