6 of our students qualified for the Final Round of the 2024 All-Ireland Linguistics Olympics on March 20th in DCU. 100 students from all over Ireland met to try and solve complicated linguistic tasks. AILO’s motto is “We solve puzzles in languages we don’t know”, and our students certainly rose to the challenge. All of our students from St Kilian’s did us proud on the day. Most placed in the top 25 %, which is an incredible achievement.
Eliska Dvorakova from 12th class was awarded 2nd place in this year’s All-Ireland Linguistics Olympics competition. This means that she is going to be part of the Irish team of the top 4 highest-placing students, who will represent Ireland this summer at the World Olympiad in Brazil. We are very excited and wish Eliska best of luck.
Our Junior Champion from last year, Michael Costello from 10th class, achieved 5th place overall. He was also part of the winning team consisting of 4 students from different schools, and will get another gold medal for his collection. Jacob Roantree from 8th class participated in the competition for the first time and will be warded a gold medal for his Junior 3rd place.
Massive congratulations to all of our students who took part and represented St. Kilian’s so well. A big Thank you to Frau Baum for her organisation, support and encouragement.
