This morning Saint Nicholas paid a visit to the children in Kindergarten and in Classes 1 and 2. The children were very happy to see him and listened to what he had to say. To their delight, St. Nicholas brought a small surprise for every child and in return they gave him small hand made presents and sang their favorite Saint Nicholas songs.
St. Nikolaus Day is a lovely German tradition and one of the highlights in our calendar which is celebrated annually on December 6th. Saint Nikolaus was a bishop who helped the poor by leaving clothes, food, toys on their doorsteps. Since then, children celebrate and remember his kind deeds by putting out their own shoe/ stocking in front of their door hoping St. Nikolaus will visit on the evening of the 5th December whilst they are asleep.
Happy Saint Nicholas!
