Last Friday, the U16 Boys basketball team beat Portmarnock (59-30) in the All Ireland Cup to advance to the Semi-Final. The win was led by the spectacular play of Sebastian, Prosper and Alex. They will now play Maynooth Post Primary on the 13th of December in the National Basketball Arena at 1pm.
Their hard work has also led them to a semi-final appearance in the East League against Greystones after an undefeated season.
The other teams in the school have also been performing well this year.
The U19 Boys team narrowly missed out on a playoff spot but is now competing in the plate competition. They started with a great win yesterday against St. Tiernan’s (49-30) Led by Sofian and Oisin.
The U16 B team made the playoffs with Herr Ringholz as coach and unfortunately lost to Synge street. The introduction of a B Team was a huge success and will get better next year.
The U16 and U19 Girls teams have both won their group with a combined record of 6-1 and host Holy Child Killiney for two quarter-final matches next week. Their best win being against a strong Sancta Maria team, led by Sofia, Isabel and Hazel.
It’s a very exciting part of the season and will hopefully lead to some trophies over the next few weeks.
All of the older teams have worked very hard this year and its great to see how much they have grown. They will soon help coach the 1st and 2nd year teams, which will start training next month.
