Shoal of fish made from tin cans
On Friday the 22nd November 2013 members of the Green School Committee participated in an art eco workshop supported by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
Artist Emily Robyn Archer carried out an informative and interactive workshop with the students where they learned about and discussed the issue of overfishing and the pollution of the seas. As part of the workshop students helped make fish out of tin cans which will go on to form part of the shoal exhibition being created by students in Dublin. All the students were fully engaged throughout the workshop and had fun creating art from all their collected tin cans. The final “shoal” will go on exhibition in the New Year in Dun Laoghaire and hopes to promote awareness of the threat of overfishing and the unsustainable exploitation of our marine resources. The Green School Committee is currently researching the issue of overfishing as part of their work on the third green flag for water and they will be on hand to discuss and raise awareness about this issue at the green school stand at this year’s Christmas Bazaar.
