• The promotion of the Irish language in its spoken form is generally considered as the main practical goal of the Irish education.
• 40% of the Irish Leaving Certificate today is in the language skills and 10% on listening comprehension. Part of the overall grade for the state exam is the ability to communicate fluently in Irish.
• The central concern of the Department of Irish is to prepare our students for the successful completion of the final examinations of the lower and upper secondary, possibly even on a higher level exams.
• In addition, it is the desire of the Irish department to encourage all students who wish to maintain their oral Irish skills outside of the classroom in every possible way and support.
• Tá dualgas ar thuismitheoirí gach deis agus tacaíocht a sholáthair dá bpáistí an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn mar theanga beo. Mar is eol do chách ‘beatha teanga í a labhairt’; ~ déanfaimís ár ndíchheall mar sin!
