From the 16th until the 19th of September 2014 the winners of the last school year’s “Kilian’s” short film festival will be competing in the much anticipated finale of “Nordeuropa filmt”. This year the final round of the film competition, held amongst German schools in Northern Europe, will take place in the German School in Helsinki.
Students travelling to the event will participate in innovative film workshops whereas they will learn from film professionals and make short films with students from other German schools in Northern Europe. The event will culminate in a screening of all winning films in Kino Orion, the cinema owned by the legendary Filmmaker Aki Kurismaaki (and Godfather of the film project: “Nordeuropa filmt).
All winning films at the “Kilian’s” short film festival last year are due to be entered into the final. Three of the filmmakers: Audria Kühnrich (“Precious” Junior Category: 8th class), Joshua Brown (“Dark Days”: Outstanding contribution: 11th class) and Ben Schönfeld (“Bear Grylls: Urban Dublin” Audience award: 6th class) will represent St. Kilian’s in the competition. The winning films “ Impuissance” (Senior Category winner: LfI Terminale students) and “Jojo” (Animation Category winner: Anna Heisterkamp) will also compete and be screened at the festival. We wish our delegation of filmmakers an interesting, creative and inspiring experience in Helsinki and wish the very best of luck to all students who were involved in the making and production of the films which have made it through to the final.

One film prize was also awarded to the German school in Stockholm and another to the host school in Helsinki. We also congratulate Ben Schoenfeld, Joshua Brown and Audria Kuhnrich who represented St. Kilian’s at the festival and who were excellent ambassadors for our school!
