On 16th December 2017, 34 students and five staff departed in the early hours, destined for the Ethiad Stadium, Manchester. En route, they stopped off at the Cheshire Oaks Retail Park for some last minute Christmas shopping before heading to see Manchester City vs Spurs.
The game lived up to its billing and a pulsating performance from Manchester City saw them blow Spurs away, and enthral our party by the sheer quality of the home team. Traffic delayed our arrival to the Holiday Inn in Bolton but it was worth the wait as everyone tucked into a 3-course meal.
The following morning saw a early departure as the group travelled to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC. The first part of the visit was a time spent in the club museum before we embarked on the impressive Stadium tour, bringing to the highest point of the Stadium before working our way down to the press interview room, dressing rooms, the Kop, pitchside, etc. We didn’t have much time to spare in the club shop but the die-hard Liverpool fans did manage to make a few hasty purchases.
We then made our way to ferry port in Holyhead before arriving back to St Kilian’s on Sunday evening.
