Under 13 Boys Conquer Mount Temple
Our under 13 boys had a hardworking win 1-0 over Mount Temple on Friday 11th January.
We were missing our super goalkeeper Benas due to the flu and Sam Curtin our sixth-class primary keeper stepped up and played well. I moved Kilian McCoole back to Centre back to mark their center forward and Kilian had him in his pocket the whole game. Captain Peter Simms was outstanding at sweeper and set up lots of attacks for us. Left back Johann Jahns had to mark a tricky right wing and Luca Sauvegrain Meehan was brill at right back. Both Luca and Johann are sixth class primary boys. Luca has now played in three positions, Left and right wing and Friday right back as we were missing Christopher Dobberstein.
Our midfield Arno Rolling Thomas O Grady and Boyang Lu worked their socks off for the whole game. Boyang had his best game to date and showed some great skills twisting and turning his opposition to create attacks for us. Up front Ben Taylor also ran and ran covering back when we lost the ball. He was unlucky to meet a Mount Temple keeper in fine form as he could have had a brace of goals. Ben was ably assisted by Federico Ruiz and Rory Small.
Despite having lots of possession and chances it was well into the second half before we made the breakthrough and scored. We won a short corner and Kilian delivered a delicious ball to peter on top of the circle who immediately swept it left to Thomas who absolutely smashed it home to put us 1-0 up.
Mount Temple poured forward looking for an equalizer but our whole team worked to shut them out and seal the win. It was a great effort and the boys deserved the win due to their hard work and a great team effort allied to some great hockey and a stunning goal. Well Done Boys!!
