A big congratulations to the 56 successful Sprachdiplom candidates! We had a wonderful celebration on 4th October to mark their success. The Head of the German Department, Ralph Magnus, and 11th class student Nora addressed the audience. A big thank you goes to German Ambassador Deike Potzel who presented the certificates to our students; to Anne Thielemans and the Primary School choir; to Tristan and Daniel for their musical performance and to Herr Magnus and Frau Dr. Baum for organising the event.
The Sprachdiplom (German Language Diploma, DSD) of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs) is the only educational programme of the Federal Republic of Germany for German as a foreign language abroad and is conducted on two levels: A2/B1 or B2/C1. The DSD programme was established in 1973 with the aim of improving the knowledge of the German language and culture in schools worldwide. In addition to the Junior Certificate and the Leaving Certificate, the DSD examinations are an integral component of the curriculum at St. Kilian’s German School.
